I’m guessing you found me because you’ve tried every possible solution in an effort to feel better without success, or perhaps you’ve achieved a certain level of healing, only to find it didn’t last for very long. I want you to know I get it, I’ve been there. My path to health and well-being was quite a journey, but also a great blessing to me and one I’m excited to share with you.
Your life is precious and unique. There is no one else like you on this planet. Don’t believe for one minute it’s your fault you feel the way you do, or that you’ve done something wrong. Healing is always possible, with great health, joy, and mental clarity your birthright.
Now I have a confession to make: I’m not like most nutritionists.
I’ve spent most of my life and over $100,000 working with practitioners to fix my own health. When none of them could help me, I took matters into my own hands. Guess what I figured out? Most of the ideas and beliefs we have about health are complete myths.
Today, it’s my mission to share what I’ve uncovered with you so you can live a life filled with joy, happiness, and great health. I do this by breaking down scientific concepts into simple terms so that you don’t have to spend hours trying to figure out what works best for you and why it matters. What I share may blow your mind. Even with all the nutrition information available today, I find that most people (even the savviest nutrition folks) are still very confused. Why?
Most dietary theories don’t make sense because they don’t take into account biochemical individuality.
In other words, what brings one person vibrant health can have disastrous affects on another. My own experience as a former raw vegan taught me that diet-dogma destroys both body and spirit. My approach to healing is not about number counting, weighing, and obsessing about food, or berating yourself to achieve results. Your goal should be health, not looking a particular way, or fitting into a specific dress size to be accepted by a world that perpetuates this delusion. I spent most of my life caught up in this game and it only lead to an even greater decline in my health.
I don’t believe in willpower, self-discipline or force. In fact, I’ll probably ask you to throw your scale and many of your supplements out the window. I’m a health-nut who just happens to be a foodie, too. Food is meant to be enjoyed and support where you are at in your life. If you think about it, the person you are today is much different than the person you were even a year ago.
So why stay stuck in dietary dogma or theory that doesn’t support you?
Today I enjoy food without anxiety, fear or restriction, and without having to worry about my weight. Now I choose to honor my body and trust my instincts. Now I delight in the enjoyment of nourishing every part of myself. I’ve been able to turn my greatest weakness into my greatest strength so I can offer lots of ways to create lasting change, something my newsletter subscribers get to learn firsthand.
But it wasn’t always this way.
For over 25 years I struggled with a very painful relationship with food and my body where I ate compulsively and binged, or deprived myself of food altogether. This relationship affected all areas of my life – God, relationships, career, and health. At my heaviest I was a size 16 and suffered terribly with chronic fatigue, menstrual and digestive distress, as well as sleep and skin problems to name just a few.
Emotionally, I was riddled with severe depression, anxiety, panic, loneliness, and massive amounts of guilt and shame. I was also constantly paralyzed with fear over being trapped in a body I hated with what appeared to be no way out.
My turning point came while working in the corporate world as a fashion designer when my depression got so bad I didn’t want to live anymore. At the time, hitting up Taco Bell and Wendy’s in one fell swoop, along with a pint of Chunky Monkey and almost an entire package of double stuffed Oreo’s, was a common occurrence. Not exactly a great place to be.
So I had a choice, end it all or bust through the fear to create a life I loved that loved me back.
Imagine my surprise when I uncovered the root cause of my suffering came from toxic levels of copper and extremely high histamine. In scientific terms we call this undermethylation. This is what I mean by biochemical individuality – I needed to stay away from certain nutrients that contributed to my suffering, and incorporate the right kind of nutrients to correct these imbalances so I could heal my mind and body.
What a relief it was to know that it really wasn’t my fault I felt the way I did; I just had severely imbalanced chemistry.
With practice, I began to understand what the cravings, excess weight, pain and inflammation really meant. And for the first time in my life, I was able to get to the root cause of my insatiable hunger, physically, emotionally and spiritually. As I started to feel better and have more energy, my focus became less about forcing myself to lose weight, and more about enjoying my body naturally and without struggle.
I’m not perfect. In fact, there was a point in my career that I was ready to walk away and give it up forever. Instead, I got back up, dusted myself off, and went back to the drawing board. Although painful, this was a great blessing for me because I found my voice and an even greater purpose for being here: so I can help others heal as I have.
Over the years I’ve come to realize that the physical and emotional parts of ourselves work in synergy with one another. It’s like the perfect marriage – micronutrients heal on the physical level, while spiritual and emotional nutrients support the elimination of patterns and behaviors that no longer serve us. If this seems impossible to you, trust me, it isn’t. It’s a journey I have walked and one you can step into right this very moment and claim as your own.
